Photo of the Week - May 27, 2012
We celebrated Dot and Marilyn's birthdays this weekend. They are 80 & 83 years young. Entertainment included a bluegrass gospel quartet. We had plenty of good food for everyone. And the ladies were surrounded by family. A good party, indeed!

Jeff and I had a date night in Moline, IL on Saturday night. I resisted the need to trek to the Quad-Cities for a date, but went along with Jeff's plan. It was quite random, but incredibly fun! Jeff won tickets to the Gaither Vocal Band concert. The music and talent was incredible. I was so touched by the lyrics.
Before the show we had dinner and walked around downtown Moline. I enjoyed seeing the equipment at the John Deere pavilion. But, I did need to give them a 'thumbs down.'
Enjoy the pictures!

Photo of the Week - Mother's Day, 2012
I imagine many of us know the expression: When God closes a door, he opens a window. Well, this weekend, I experienced something similar: When God takes a tree, he plants some flowers.
I treked to Bluffton for Mother's Day. Just in time to see trees on Summit Avenue (my childhood home) be cut down. The trees in Mom and Dad's front yard sit directly above a gas pipeline. These and many others in the neighborhood needed to be cut. Sad times for this tree hugger who loved the shade and beauty of these trees. But, we took joy in planting flowers around the house.
Videos of the trees coming down can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG1lirbfqmp0UK-PUh8YZnw?feature=results_main
While I was gone, Jeff and the boys fended for themselves and spent the afternnon shooting clay pigeons...Just had to add this cute photo in too.
And here is a bonus link...a friend blogged about a party we had this week...enjoy!

Year over year, slowly but surely, I'm becoming more knowledgable about my vegetable garden. I watch a few videos on line, use some good common sense, add some water and watch God work. Working in the garden has turned into more than a hobby or even a way to provide food. It has become a sweet time of worship. This week I especially enjoyed my time in the garden pulling weeds and harvesting the first fruits of the season. Radishes - I enjoy them steamed.
