Photo of the Week - January 30, 2011

This past Saturday, Jeff and I went to a 'high energy' retreat at our church. The theme was 5-Month energy. Amidst the learning we also had plenty of fun to entertain us. I was in a skit and had the chance to act. My role had me rapping at one point...entertaining to say the least. Jeff was in a contest to pull tissues out of two boxes in less than a minute.

With this blog I allow my pictures to tell the story in lieu of my words. Today, my pictures don't begin to convey the joy of my Sunday evening. No, I wasn't celebrating a Steeler's win. I listened to a live Piano concert by Katie Downing. Katie is a high school senior preparing for music school auditions. She took my breath away with her powerful playing and grace at the keys. Katie is Jeff's cousin's daughter. Special young woman with great talent who brought tears to my eyes and made me catch my breath as she performed.

This Sunday afternoon was extra special. Our house was the place to be with a fun wedding shower for Ryan Schick (Jeff's Nephew) and his lovely fiance, Katy Daniel. Beautiful couple. Beautiful family. Beautiful day.

Jeff and I jammed to 'All Creatures of our God and King' on Friday & Sunday night. Well, we plunked and strummed to something that resembled one of our favorite hymns. The good news: 1) I didn't sing, 2) We can only get better, 3) It didn't cost us anything!

We are holding off on selling tickets to our in-house concerts for the time being.

Confession: I am a lazy photographer! I let the Christmas Holiday pass without capturing a shot of the tree, the gifts, or the family reunions. The same is true of the fun that was had on New Year's Eve. I did manage to get a shot of Jeff and me out to eat for lunch on his Birthday on December 27.
