Photo of the Week - Memorial Day, 2008

Friends,

It has been a glorious holiday weekend. My Mom, Dad, Sister, and Cousin came to Peoria for a visit on Friday through Sunday. Along with great company, they brought me lawn furniture! Two years of cookouts and having friends over for dinner, and I just now have the proper set-up in my back yard. The weather has been gorgeous and a perfect chance to break in the new addition to the yard. Saturday's dinner outside with friends and family was the highlight of the weekend!

Sunday I had a blast playing tennis with Becky. I recalled not only how much I love the game but also why I'm soo poor at it. Luckily it was about having fun...and not the skill. Hopefully this summer will allow for more time on the courts.

Today I ran in a road race with proceeds supporting our local troops overseas. Besides being a great race, I was glad to do something to make the holiday more meaningful. I passed through the cemetery and caught this week's photo. May we all be thankful for the sacrifice of those who have served for our country.

Friends,

This week I flew the friendly skies to Denver, CO for work. While I was only there a little more than a day, I enjoyed every minute. The work was successful and the chance to catch up with friends living there made the trip all the more memorable. I visited downtown Denver and enjoyed the laid back yet urban feel...Uggg...why didn't I take my camera?!

Today I went with my friend Jennifer to pick up her wedding dress. Simply beautiful! I had the camera along for the adventure, but if I post her picture this week, what will we have to look forward to in July?

Therefore this week's photo shows a bit of my work in the garden on Saturday. I planted tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, peppers, strawberries, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts...Yes, Brussels sprouts. Believe it or not, I like them! But my favorite plants are my potted petunias.

Photo of the Week - Mother's Day, 2008

Friends and Family,

I'm just returning from a beautiful weekend in Indiana. Saturday was packed especially full with family fun. This week's photos show Dad, Jill and me before we headed off for a 20 mile bike ride through the rural areas of Wells County. Couldn't have asked for better weather or company for the outing! Later Jill and I went flower shopping with Mom visiting a few Amish commercial outlets. Just too scenic to not add a picture of a farm we passed in our travels. And of course, I am including a picture of Mom and me taken earlier today. Nothing like breakfast at The Snug Cafe to make us smile! Even on her big day, she still comes to my rescue...after the picture was taken, she quickly hemmed a pair of pants for me. Thanks Mom!

Friends and family,

This weekend was packed full of fun! I took Friday off from work and headed to Indianapolis for Saturday's running of the Indy Mini, a half marathon through the streets of downtown Indianapolis and the Indy 500 track. Perfect day for running! This week's photo was snapped with my phone after the race. Notice that we all had smiles after a strong finish. Nothing like sharing the experience of 13.1 miles to strengthen friendships!
